Make it stand out
Teller Elementary in Denver’s Congress Park will welcome a full-time facility dog dedicated to supporting EC4 to 5th grade students starting in the 2025-26 school year. This specially trained dog will provide comfort, emotional support, and assistance to enhance the students’ learning environment and overall well-being.
Students and staff at Teller have happily welcomed visits from community therapy dogs in the past, but now the school community has made the important decision to bring a highly-trained school facility dog to their campus on a daily basis in the coming months. They recognize that having a dedicated dog present every day will provide an additional layer of essential support for students facing mental health challenges, past trauma, or behavioral difficulties. This new facility dog will be specially trained to alert teachers to the emotional and behavioral needs of students, offer crucial help during moments of crisis or grief, and provide calm, consistent, and dependable connections that foster a positive and nurturing environment for every member of their school family.
